Foundation Projects

Programs

Yaletown House is able to offer an extensive array of Music Therapy, Horticultural Therapy, Strength Training and Pastoral Care* services to our seniors. These programs are not funded in our baseline budget from the Health Authority and we therefore rely on the generosity of the community to make these vital therapies happen on an ongoing basis.

*These programs are partially funding because of Provincial Gaming revenue.

Equipment

Yaletown House has benefited greatly from donations that have helped us purchase much needed equipment item such as electric beds, a day/night chair, and tilt wheelchairs. Our current equipment wish list is to replace our aging wheelchair van/bus. After providing over nine years of continuous use, our van needs upgrading to ensure uninterrupted outing for our residents. Wheelchair bus outings are very important to our seniors as they enjoy trips to Stanley Park, local restaurants, the beach and exhibitions (such as the Art Gallery and the Aquarium) We will be starting a campaign in mid 2008 to raise the bus funds.

Renovations

Yaletown House has recently embarked on a fundraising campaign, Quality of Life Starts at Home, to renovate and revitalize the facility. The facility is more than 20 years old and requires renovations to address normal wear and tear as well as add enhancements that will better adapt to our seniors advance health care needs. Our plans include renovated all four floors including resident rooms, main floor lounge, dining areas and outdoor spaces. We are replacing the furniture, decorating the walls and floors and resigning common room layouts. The result will be an even better Yaletown House where residents will live in a safer and more comfortable and home-like environment. Learn more about our campaign and be a part of our success »
