Music is an important ingredient of Yaletown House's composition. We offer extensive Music Therapy programming five days a week which includes programs such as the Choir, Movement to Music, Folk Tunes and the Recital performances. In addition to the simple pleasures of music, the benefits of Music Therapy has been well documented for seniors and include; reducing agitation, helping with isolation, building bridges between people and offering a means of tranquility and pleasure. Lead by a qualified Music Therapist, our services are a unique opportunity for our residents to be in touch with their memories and with themselves.

The Full Circle Group not only about religion. It also an opportunity for us to have an open conversation about any topic, such as how we say goodbye to someone we have lost in our lives.
Mary, Resident

We offer several Pastoral Care Programs to support residents and their families. Starting from the point of admission, our non-denominational programs respect each resident's unique set of spiritual experience and religious expressions and encourages them to find peace and comfort. Our Pastoral Care program includes one to one counsel, the Friendship Groups and Full Circle classes, a combination of and music and spiritual care. In addition to these services, Catholic Mass is performed every Friday by a visiting Priest from Christ Church Cathedral. All residents and families are welcome to attend any of our Pastoral Care programs.

Horticulture Therapy

My parents were avid gardeners.... I inherited my love of gardening from them.
Lloyd, Resident

Our year round garden programs are lead by a qualified horticulture Therapist. Activities vary from season to season and include learning to plant from seedlings, creating and tending flowerbeds, pressing flowers to make cards, and bus outings to garden shows. As well, regular donations from local florists allow us to have weekly flower arranging classes and we encourage the residents share their creations and decorate the main lounge or take their floral bouquet back to their room to enjoy.
