Music Therapy

My mother may be forgetful but she remembers lyrics... Music is the greatest prescription we can give her.
Liz, Family Member

We offer extensive Music Therapy programming five days a week which includes programs such as the Choir, Movement to Music, Folk Tunes and music appreciation. In addition to the simple pleasures of music, the benefits of Music Therapy has been well documented for seniors and include: reducing agitation, helping with isolation and building bridges between people. Lead by qualified Music Therapists, music is a unique opportunity for our residents to be in touch with their memories and with themselves.

Spiritual Care

Each resident has a life story and an inherent desire to express who they are. I strike to have each person's voice heard, honoured and responded to...
Pam MacCallum Ruud, Spiritual Care Coordinator

Starting from the point of admission, our non-denominational programs respect each resident's unique set of spiritual experience and religious expressions and encourages them to find peace and comfort. Our Spiritual Care program includes one to one counsel, the Friendship Groups and Full Circle classes, a combination of and music and spiritual care. In addition to these services, Catholic Mass is performed every Friday by a visiting Priest from Christ Church Cathedral.

My parents were avid gardeners.... I inherited my love of gardening from them.
Lloyd, Resident

Our year round garden programs are lead by two qualified horticulture Therapists. Activities vary from season to season and include learning to plant from seedlings, creating and tending flowerbeds, pressing flowers to make cards, and bus outings to garden shows. As well, regular donations from local florists allow us to have weekly flower arranging classes. We encourage the residents share their creations and decorate the main lounge or take their floral bouquet back to their room to enjoy.
