Hooray for the Yaletown Lions Club

Thank you to the Yaletown Lions Club who delivered a big cheque for $20,000 to Yaletown House Foundation to support our dining room furniture replacement program.

This generous donation is from the Annual Yaletown Lions Club Gala held at the Hotel Vancouver this past June. Combined with the last five Gala events, over $127,000 has been donated by this dedicated and community minded service club. Thanks to this gift, we have reach our goal and will be purchasing furniture for our 4 dining spaces. New furniture items will include adjustable height tables for residents in wheelchairs, sturdy yet easily moveable chairs and special moist resistant materials for both the table tops and chairs Yaletown House applauds the hard-working Members for their recognition of seniors and ongoing support.

Below is a poem of thanks to the Lions written by our in-house poet-laureate Marlene, Recreation Therapist.

Hooray for the Lions

They’ve done it once more

Our old table and chairs

Are being pitched out the door

New dining room furniture

Will come to us soon

A fresh modern look

That will brighten the room

So out with the old,

the scratched and the chipped

And in with the new,

The stylish and hip

Smooth table tops

All laminate and shiny

And chairs with strong legs

That will support all our hineys.

So Lions, dear Lions

Thank you for your gift

And giving our home

A much needed face lift.
